# Configure Recallium in Cursor

> Authenticate the Recallium MCP server in Cursor and add the Recallium rule

The installer adds the Recallium MCP server to Cursor. You authenticate the server, then add the Recallium rule so that Recallium loads at the start of every Agent chat.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the MCP settings">
    Open **Cursor Settings** from **Settings** on Windows and Linux or **Preferences** on macOS. Select **Customize**, then **MCP**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Authenticate recallium">
    Find **recallium** in the list and select the option to authenticate. Complete the sign-in in your browser.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Download the Recallium rule">
    Go to [recallium.ai/plugins](https://recallium.ai/plugins#cursor) and select **Download for Cursor**. Open `Cursor-User-Rule.md` in any editor and copy all of its contents.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the rule to Cursor">
    In **Cursor Settings**, select **Customize**, then **Rules**. In older versions, open **Cursor Settings**, then **Rules**. Add a **User Rule**, paste the contents, and save.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start a new Agent chat">
    Recallium now loads your project at the start of every Agent chat. Your agent searches your memories before it re-derives work, and it stores each decision on your behalf as it lands.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  A User Rule applies to every project you open and syncs with your Cursor account. It applies to Agent chat only, not to Tab completion or Inline Edit. If rules conflict, Cursor applies team rules first, then project rules, then User Rules.
